Yes, I do know of Sir Syed Ali Imam. I am his great grand son. I have siblings and cousins living in the UK, India and Pakistan who are descended from him.
Some of his carrier highlights include:
Law Member of the Viceroy's Executive Council (1910-1915) and the first President of the Nizam's Executive Council. Also chief architect of the constitution of Bihar and one of the chief movers for the Lucknow Pact of 1916 between the Congress and the Muslim League. Represented India at the League of Nations – don’t remember the year for sure but I think it may have been 1922 / 23.
Here are some photos of him (and his third wife, Lady Anees Fatimah) : http://www.npg.org.uk/live/search/person.asp?LinkID=mp61573
Came from a family of “Zaidi al-Wasiti sadaats (syeds)”. Amongst his immediate ancestors were:

Great grandfather: Syed Imdad Ali, Sadr-e-Ameen and co-founder and secretary of the Bihar Scientific Society and also co-founder of what is now called the LS College in Muzaffarpur.
