Hi Jim,

I can tell you that Ol' Joe never had any kids. There are several good bios of him on the Web (try a google search on "joseph eggleston johnston") that specify it and I've found books in the library that state it. There are also tons of folks out there who claim he is their ancestor. Joe was 100% childless.

You might be related to Confederate General Albert Sydney Johnston. I haven't done much research on him but I'm pretty sure he had kids. He was killed at Shiloh (a wound in the leg and he bled out into his boot). I'd love to hear if you find any connections!
