I have an EXTENSIVE genealogy tree listing on the Johnston family, including information on first Johnston in America (Peter) who was of the Clan of Johnston of Annandale in Dumfriesshire in Scotland. Apparently there is some way to trace Peter back to the family that came over with William the Conqueror from Normandy in 1066. The original source of all this data was Louise Pequet du Bellet, who apparently documented many of the lines of Virginia's prominent families in the early 1900s. The information on the Johnston's is in Volume II of her 4 volume books.
