Your ancestry no doubt goes back to John and James Mathis, two brothers who came to Georgia. About 1827 they settled at Franklin (near Cecil) in what is now Lowndes Country. There's a wealth of information on them in "Wiregrass Pioneers" and you could link up your relatives through that source.
